Hi Danielle,

It's been nice talking with you and reading your replies to me and others. I'll let you know if I ever use any of my replies, or if I'm more like a deer in the headlights and struck speechless!

It's nice of your husband to agree to solving the birth control problem. If you conceive in the next couple of weeks, it's meant to be...otherwise, it'll be nice to have you here. If you decide to adopt, at least that can be a thought-out, planned decision, and you will have time to make it.

Take care,

Julie

"It's better to regret the child you didn't have rather than the child you did have"

or something like that............I read that here and it really helped my husband and I come to the final decision to do the vasectomy. Not that anyone would actually regret having their child, but I can see how a person could have second thoughts about it after the fact. I know I did with my son during the first few months. I would be up all night breastfeeding (I did not like breastfeeding) and I would think "what have I gotten myself into!"

Anyway, I don't want to have those feelings again and hubby and I are so very happy now that I can't imagine taking a chance to complicate things. Even if the outcome may not be as miserable as I envision it. Our family feels complete and we don't NEED anything else to make us happy. Now if by some miracle we are blessed with another child, we'll cope and I'm sure we'll be happy. We just don't feel the need to have another.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but it feels great getting it out in the open. With all the family pressure to have more kids and my friends asking if we're sure about the vasectomy, I just feel better writing it all out like this.

We just got back from Seaworld and we had a blast! We usually go to Disney, but I thoroughly enjoyed Seaworld and I can't wait to go back. The shows were perfect for my 3 year old son and the park was reasonably priced so we didn't have to feel guilty about spending a fortune.

Do you guys vacation? Where are your favorite places to visit?

Glad to hear you are at peace with your decision. That can be such a relief, after going over and over it in your mind.

As for vacations, we have actually not been on a big vacation since Conrad was born. I have been a little reluctant to travel with him, but figure I'll get over that now that he is getting to be such a big boy and not a baby. As he gets older I hope we do a lot of traveling with him. We will kick that off next December; we are going to Hawaii (Maui), the three of us and my husband's parents. They have a time share. Adam and I went to Kauai on our honeymoon, and again when I was pregnant with Conrad.

We are lucky to be close to Disneyland, and Sea World in San Diego is just a few hours away. We plan to do all those things with him in the next year or so. It is so much fun as they get older and you can see them enjoy things like that!

If you have a chance, could you give me some input on visiting Hawaii? My husband and I are going with our son for our 10th anniversary to renew our vows and we would love to hear anything you have to say about it! I've never been, but we've seen pictures and I know I'll love it :) I just wish we didn't have to wait 3 more years!!!

You're so lucky to live in close proximity to Disney and Seaworld, and I assume Knott's Berry Farm. I love that place! Anyway, I'm sure Conrad will appreciate it as well. Since we live in Missouri, we have to travel to get to all the cool places.

Hi Danielle,
I'd love to give you all my recommendations about Hawaii! My e-mail address is julie_borden@lycos.com. If you want, you can e-mail me with yours; we can chat about Hawaii on that, and on only child issues here.
